Our History
In 1972, a young Italian migrated to this country with dreams of becoming successful and making a name for himself; and so he did. Once arriving at the port of New York, he immediately fell in love with the city. His passions for food, his country, and his family were all the inspiration he needed to bring the old world charm of Italy to NYC.
In 1982, he opened a little corner deli, in the Flatiron district, which he operated with the help of his family. He named it, "Milano" after what he thought was the most beautiful city in the world, next to New York City. Four years later, he opened another shop on the Upper East Side, at 1582 Third Avenue, corner of East 89th Street.
Thirty plus years later, servicing the east and west sides of Manhattan, we have established our name and continue to operate as a family business. We strive to remain a "mom & pop" business and stand tall against the largest of companies. We cater to our customers by giving them friendly, personal service. Our staff is knowledgeable and professional in fulfilling the needs of all our customers. We have brought to New York the food, customs, and traditions of old world Italy by preparing specialty dishes like Nonna and Zia used to make. We are known and loved by our customers as we watched their children and our own children grow.
